Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 29, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Charlottesville Albemarle Media Productions and Services LLC, doing business as Champs LLC, Champs Local, and Local Media Champs ("Champs," "Champs Local," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use our website at https://www.champslocal.com (the "Website") and the Champs Local web application at https://app.localmediachamps.com (the "App"). Together, the Website and the App are the "Services."

Champs Local is a business operating system for local service businesses. It combines software, AI, and human experts to run marketing, sales, and operations work. Businesses that subscribe to Champs Local ("Customers") and their team members ("Users") use the App to manage contacts, leads, email, calendars, documents, websites, reviews, and advertising.

If you have questions, contact us at privacy@champslocal.com.

  • Communications: messages you send us, support requests, and form submissions on the Website.

Information from accounts you connect

When you choose to connect a third-party account, such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Webflow, QuickBooks, or Twilio, we receive the information that you authorize that service to share with us. Section 2 describes Google user data in detail.

  • Log and device information: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages viewed, access times, and the referring page.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: we use cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, secure the Services, and understand how the Website is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, on the Website, through our cookie settings banner.

2. Google user data

This section explains how the App accesses, uses, stores, shares, and deletes data we receive from Google APIs ("Google user data"). We access Google user data only after you sign in with Google and explicitly grant permission, and we access only the data needed for the features you turn on.

How we use Google user data

We use Google user data only to provide and improve the user-facing features described above, in the App you are using. We do not use Google user data for any other purpose.

Some App features use artificial intelligence to help you work faster. For example, an AI feature might draft a reply to a customer email or summarize a meeting. When you use one of these features, the relevant Google user data is sent to our AI service provider (OpenAI, through its business API) only to produce that result for you. Our AI providers are contractually prohibited from using this data to train their models.

Limited Use disclosure

Champs' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically:

  • We do not sell Google user data.
  • We do not use or transfer Google user data for serving advertisements, including retargeting, personalized, or interest-based advertising.
  • We do not use or transfer Google user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
  • We do not transfer Google user data to data brokers or other information resellers.
  • We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
  • No human at Champs reads your Google user data unless (a) you give us permission for a specific message or item, for example in a support request; (b) it is necessary for security purposes, such as investigating abuse; (c) it is necessary to comply with applicable law; or (d) the data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.

Who we share Google user data with

We share Google user data only:

  • with the service providers that host and run the App on our behalf (listed in Section 4), only as needed to provide the App and under contracts that require them to protect it;
  • with other members of your own Champs workspace, according to the permissions your administrator sets;
  • when you direct us to, for example when you send an email or publish a post; and
  • when required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or security of our users or the public, or in connection with a merger or acquisition, with notice to you.

How we store and protect Google user data

Google user data and OAuth tokens are stored in our application database hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 or higher and encrypted at rest with AES-256. Access is restricted to the workspace that connected the account and to a small number of authorized Champs personnel who need it to run the Services.

Retention and deletion of Google user data

  • We keep Google user data only as long as needed to provide the features you use.
  • You can disconnect any Google service at any time in the App under Settings > Integrations. When you disconnect, we delete the stored access tokens immediately and stop accessing your Google account.
  • You can also revoke Champs' access at any time from your Google Account at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • To delete Google user data the App has already imported, such as synced emails or calendar events, email privacy@localmediachamps.com. We will delete it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it.
  • When a Customer account is closed, we delete its Google user data within 30 days, except for encrypted backups, which are overwritten within 90 days.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • provide, operate, and maintain the Services;
  • create and manage accounts, and authenticate Users;
  • process payments and send receipts, invoices, and account notices;
  • respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Services;
  • secure the Services and prevent fraud and abuse;
  • understand Website usage and improve the Services; and
  • send marketing emails about Champs, which you can opt out of at any time. This never uses Google user data.

4. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as follows:

  • Service providers that process data on our behalf under contract, including Xano and Amazon Web Services (database and file hosting), Vercel (web hosting), OpenAI (AI features), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), Twilio (text messaging and calls), and Sentry (error monitoring).
  • Your workspace: information in a Customer's workspace is visible to that Customer's authorized Users.
  • At your direction: when you connect an integration, send a message, or publish content.
  • Legal and safety: to comply with law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Champs, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. The acquiring company must honor this Policy, and we will notify you of the transfer.

5. Text messaging

If you opt in to text messages from Champs Local, message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from all other sharing described in this policy and will not be shared with any third parties.

6. Customer data and the people our Customers serve

Customers use Champs Local to store information about their own customers and leads. For that information, the Customer controls the data and Champs Local processes it on the Customer's behalf. If you are a customer of a business that uses Champs Local and want to access or delete your information, please contact that business directly. We will help them respond.

7. Data security

We protect information with industry-standard safeguards. These include TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, hashed passwords, role-based access controls, separation of data between Customer workspaces, and keeping secrets in secured environment storage. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify affected users of a breach as required by law.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. When an account is closed, we delete or anonymize its data within 30 days, except where we must keep it for legal, tax, or accounting reasons. Backups are overwritten within 90 days.

9. Your choices and rights

  • Access, correction, and deletion: you can update most information in the App. To request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it, email privacy@champslocal.com. We will respond within 30 days.
  • Connected accounts: disconnect any integration in Settings > Integrations, or revoke access from the provider, such as https://myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • Marketing emails: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.
  • Text messages: reply STOP to any text message from us to stop receiving them, or HELP for help.
  • Cookies: use your browser settings or the Website's cookie settings banner.
  • State privacy rights: depending on where you live, such as California, Virginia, or Colorado, you may have additional rights to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To use these rights, email privacy@champslocal.com. We will not discriminate against you for using them.

10. Children's privacy

The Services are intended for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, especially a change to how we use Google user data, we will update the effective date above and notify Users by email or in the App before the change takes effect.
